11 Days Gorilla Safari Uganda – Rwanda Tour

Africa Adventure Safaris organizes an 11 days gorilla safari to Uganda & Rwanda includes tours to Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth, and Bwindi Forest national parks for the former; and in the latter includes Volcanoes national park and Lake Kivu on the border with DR Congo. Expect to encounter mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, angulates, cats, and birds in great numbers with this wildlife safari. This safari begins either from Entebbe airport in Uganda or Kigali international airport in Rwanda depending on the wishes of the guest.

Day 1:  Uganda – Uganda Rwanda Wildlife  Safari 
You will be picked from Entebbe Airport upon your arrival by our tour guide and transfer you to Ngamba Island for chimp tracking at the Island. These orphaned chimpanzees are kept in a semi-natural sanctuary in a rainforest on an island in Lake Victoria. You will have your lunch at the island. You will have an opportunity to feed them and play with them as the young chimps are willing to walk hand in hand with you. Return to Entebbe in the evening. Have dinner and overnight at Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel or similar other.

Day 2:  Kibale Forest National Park
After your breakfast transfer to western Uganda by road to Kibale Forest National park.  You will have your lunch in Fort Portal. Move to Ndali Lodge for a nature walk to the numerous crater lakes in the area while you interact with the local community. A traditional dance can be arranged for you on your request. Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Birding in Kibale Forest
11 Days willdife safariAfter a morning breakfast transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing and later undertake chimpanzee trekking deep in the rainforest. There are over 90% chances of seeing chimpanzees. deep in the rainforest. There are over 90% chances of seeing chimpanzees. Kibale Forest is rich in primates, with 13 species recorded, the highest total for any Uganda national park. The 9 diurnal primates resident in Kibale National park include vervet, red-tailed; L’Hoest’s and blue monkeys, red colobus, grey-cheeked mangabey, black-and-white colobus, olive baboon and chimpanzees. About 335 bird species exist in Kibale Forest including four species recorded nowhere else in Uganda: Nahan’s Franklin, blue-headed bee-eater, Cassin’s Spine-tail and Masked Apalis. The best bird watching spot is Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where aq four-hour trail has been laid out, and perfect birding guides will be able to show you several localized species. Day 4: Wildlife tour in QENP
Take an early breakfast and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. A game drive along the way to Mweya peninsula is highly rewarding. You will not miss elephants, buffaloes, hippos, bushbucks, waterbucks, Uganda kob, warthogs, etc. After lunch at Mweya Safari Lodge go for a boat cruise along Kazinga Channel. The wildlife along the banks of the channel that flock the banks for drinking water in the afternoon is overwhelming.

Day 5: Chimp tracking in Kyambura
After a morning breakfast, travel to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee tracking. In the afternoon enjoy a nature walk in the Maramagambo Forest to the bat-cave. The sight of the huge pythons feasting on the millions of bats in this place is exciting. Dinner and overnight at Jacana Safari Lodge / Mweya Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 6: The Ishasha tree-climbing lions
Take a morning breakfast and transfer to Bwindi en route Ishasha Plains for its celebrated residents, the lions, one of the few populations in Africa that habitually climb trees. The fringing riparian forest accommodates a sizeable number of black-and-white colobus monkeys, bushbuck, and a satisfactory variety of birds including localised Cassin’s grey flycatcher, broad-billed roller, and the black bee-eater among others.  Proceed to Bwindi for your late lunch at the lodge.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking – Bwindi gorilla tracking safari
11 Days gorilla safariAfter an early morning breakfast, walk to the nearby park headquarters for a briefing from the park rangers before undertaking gorilla trekking at 9.00 am local time. The time of meeting these habituated gorillas ranges between an hour and a full day depending on their movement in the forest. You will be allowed to stay with the gorillas interacting for an hour. This is a very exciting moment as you interact with these closest relatives of mankind.Meeting these awesome primates is the highlight of any Uganda-Rwanda safari. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla forest Camp / Buhoma Community Bandas. Day 8: Rwanda Safari
Take your morning breakfast and transfer to Rwanda via Kisoro. Traversing the Kigezi Highlands commonly referred to as “The Switzerland of Africa” offer an excellent panoramic view as you negotiate the meanders before crossing over to Rwanda’s Virunga ranges for a similar scenic view. Day 9: Gorilla Tracking in Volcano National Park
After a morning breakfast transfer to Volcano national park headquarters for a briefing before undertaking gorilla tracking at 9.00 am local time. Gorilla trekking may take you between 2 to 8 hours. But there are high chances of seeing gorillas. Thanks to the work of Dr Dian Fossey. This gorilla tourism in Rwanda would never be what it is now. After the gorilla trekking experience, leave PNV for Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel / Hotel Gorillas Lake kivu.

Day 10: Lake Kivu
After breakfast, go for a morning boat ride on the Lake Kivu. You can participate in several adventure activities including visits to local farms, coffee gardens, local beer brewing, or go birding along the lake shore. In the evening, transfer to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. Overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel / Urban Boutique Hotel / Chez Lando.

Day 11: End of Uganda – Rwanda Safari
After your breakfast, transfer back to Kampala with lunch en route in Mbarara.
