Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up & transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
This is the first day of our three days trip. Depending on where you will be in Kigali, your hotel or the airport, your driver guide from our company will pick you up and drive though Kigali city to Cyanika border in Kisoro. Clear with the immigrations and thereafter drive through the beautiful rolling hills of Kisoro district. The park is located roughly 3 hours drive from the town of Kisoro. Relax and enjoy the fresh air of the jungle while overlooking the extinct Virunga Volcanoes of Sabinyo, Muhabura and Gahinga located in the park. Dinner and overnight stay at Mt Gahinga Lodge, Virunga Lodge, Ingagi Park View Lodge, Amajambere Iwacu Community Camp
Day 2: Gorilla trekking &Batwa pygmies
The day to the trek the endangered gorillas are finally here! Wakeup very early, have breakfast and with your packed lunch transfer to Ntebeko visitor Information Centre for registration and briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. At 8:00am, start up a hike to meet the mighty Nyakagyezi gorilla family. The trek may last for between 2 hours to 6 hours before meeting the gorillas. However you are 99% sure of meeting the endangered gorillas at the end of the day. On meeting the gorillas, spend an hour in their company. Learn about their social lifestyle, embrace the human like characters of gorillas and have fun. In the evening, visit batwa pygmy communities to learn and experience their traditions, norms and customs. Batwa are traditional dwellers of Mgahinga and Bwindi Forests who were evicted after the formation of the national park. Overnight stay at the lodge (Day 1)
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking & Departure
Wakeup early, have breakfast and transfer to Ntebeko for briefing on the guidelines of golden monkey trekking. Thereafter, trek through the forest to meet these playful and active creatures. You will enjoy the company of these of beautiful creatures, which jump continuously across tree branches over you. Remember to hold your camera tight and enjoy this magical encounter. In the afternoon, transfer to Kigali for your connecting flight.
