This 5 Days Uganda chimpanzee Tour takes you to Kibale National Park and Semuliki Forest National Park. The trip starts with a tour to Kibale Forest National park, one of the loveliest and most varied tracts of natural rain forests in Uganda protecting a total of 70 mammal species, most famously 13 species of primate including the chimpanzees. After tracking chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, the trip continues to Semuliki, a park that sprawls across the floor of the Semliki Valley on the remote western side of the Rwenzori, another place to enjoy chimpanzee tracking, game viewing and sightseeing.

TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Leave Kampala for Kibale National Park
Drive early from Kampala city heading west past Mityana and continue to Fort Portal where you will stop for lunch. As you go through Fort Portal lookout for the Royal tombs the palace uphill and the “Amabeere” caves. Kibale is particularly alluring to nature lovers known for its excellent chimp tracking and birding, worth also noting having the highest concentration of primates in East Africa of about 13 primates. Such include chimps, vervet, red-tailed, L’Hoest and blue monkeys. Go for an afternoon primate walk to Kanyanchu river camp, the most popular walk in the park. It highlights a miscellany of flora and fauna within the forest. Dine and sleep in Ndali Lodge (luxury) /Primates Lodge (budget).
DAY 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale National Park
If you a primatologist, you are in the right place.” This morning go in search of chimpanzee near Kanyanchu. Chimps live in communities of about 100 individuals; learn about the physical and behavioral aspects we share in common. Check out more primates such the golden monkey, olive baboons, red Colobus, white and black Colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabey and blue monkeys. Later go for a guided nature walk to Bigodi sanctuary (Magombe swamp), which offers an array of birdlife, butterflies and tree species. Day 3: Kibale – Semliki
Continue to Semliki national park which is found in Bundibugyo district at the western border of Uganda and Congo Republic next to Lake Albert. The park has a strategic location in the western Albertine rift valley region of Uganda and takes up the eastern part of the Ituri forest joining Uganda and Congo River separated by the Semliki River. Semliki is an ornithologist’s haven having about 400 bird species mostly forest birds. There are 46 forest swallow tails species, 300 tree species recorded nowhere else in East Africa and 53 mammal species with 11 diurnal species. During the night go for a spot lit night game drive, only one of its kind in Uganda and check out the slender and white- tailed mongoose, serval cats and diminutive nightjars. Dine and rest at Semliki Safari Lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking
After enjoying your morning breakfast go on to track the mysterious chimpanzees, our own closest relatives and see how much we share in common. Semliki supports a healthy population of primates including the chimps, red- tailed, vervet, blue and DeBrazza’s monkey. In the afternoon after lunch go on a game drive in the park and check out other mammals like sitatunga, buffalo, bush pig, white-bellied duiker among others or go on a boat trip on the Semliki River where hippos and crocodiles are common. Return to Semliki Safari Lodge.
Day 5: return to Kampala
Take breakfast and depart for Kampala not forgetting to stopover in Fort Portal for lunch.
