Activities offered by Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

mountain gorillas
Guests can use the lodge as a base for trekking in the southern sector of Bwindi. The activity begins early with a transfer to the trekking centre. After the ranger briefing, visitors walk through the forest to locate their assigned gorilla family.
Golden monkey tracking
Golden monkey tracking takes place in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Visitors first receive a briefing before entering the bamboo and montane forest. Trackers search for the monkeys while guides follow their movements. Golden monkeys move quickly through the vegetation, so visitors need to follow the group closely.
Canoeing on Lake Mulehe
Canoeing is one of the activities that can be done directly around the lodge. Visitors travel across the lake in a canoe while viewing the surrounding hills and vegetation. The activity can be arranged as a quiet morning or afternoon excursion. Birds can also be observed around the lake.
Community and village walks
Village walks introduce visitors to daily life around Lake Mulehe. A local guide leads the walk through the surrounding communities. Visitors may visit homes, meet local residents, see food preparation and learn about traditional practices. The activity can include visits to traditional healers and demonstrations of local food and drink preparation.
Cycling
Cycling takes place on roads and trails around the lake and nearby villages. The lodge describes a route of about two hours that follows the lakeshore and village roads. The pace can be adjusted depending on the visitor’s fitness.
Batwa cultural experience
Visitors can take part in a Batwa cultural experience around the Bwindi and Mgahinga region. The activity introduces visitors to the Batwa’s historical relationship with the forest. Guides explain traditional hunting, gathering, medicinal plants and other forest knowledge.
Mountain hiking
Lake Mulehe safari lodge offers mountain hikes around Mgahinga. The trails move through different vegetation zones as the altitude increases. Depending on the mountain and route, hikers pass through farmland, woodland, bamboo and higher montane vegetation. These hikes require good physical fitness because the slopes are steep.
Community and conservation
The lodge includes village activities that create opportunities for visitors to interact with local residents. Community walks can also support local guides and small businesses.
The lodge’s activities around Bwindi and Mgahinga are closely connected with protected-area tourism and conservation.
