There is too much excitement in Uganda the Pearl of Africa and African continent after her own Abenakyo Quiin finished 3rd at Miss world 2018. The 22 year old is Uganda’s first beauty Queen to make to the top five in miss world pageant winning as Miss world Africa. Much as former Uganda Queens have participated in miss world contests before, none had made it far to this ladder. Our own Abenakyo has therefore put Uganda on the world map not only as a pearl of Africa gifted by nature but also as a country for beauty with purpose map. Ugandans first excitement was when Abenakyo made it to the top 30 bringing hope that the Quiin would indeed make it to the top, which she actually did. Mexican Queen Vanessa ponce de Leon was crowned the miss world 2018 followed by Murielle Ravian from Mauritius and Abenakyo the third. Confidence is one thing that enabled Uganda’s Queen to make it through. Her self-confidence in supporting her beauty with purpose project to fight teenage pregnancies in Uganda and the world was exceptional to convince the judges. The selection of miss world was based on the contestant’s public speaking abilities and passion about their projects about beauty with a purpose.
Who is Abanekyo?
Are you wondering who Abanekyo is? Well, the beauty queen is a mixed background of western and eastern blood. Also, Abenakyo is a graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business computing. She is also has passion for cooking dreaming of becoming a top chef in the near future. The Queen’s favorite food is Matoke with G, nuts sauce especially when she prepares it herself. Abenakyo has been also made Uganda’s tourism ambassador who will promote Uganda’s tourism products encouraging more internationals to visit Uganda and find out for themselves why it’s dubbed the “pearl of Africa”. Despite her loss for the first position as the miss world, Abenakyo is confident that her position as miss world Africa will help change the negative image of Uganda her motherland and African continent.
Abenakyo’s journey of success.
Having completed her bachelors degree in business computing, Abenakyo contested for miss world 2018/2019 and won. This was a first step that gave this beauty queen confidence that indeed she could much more. After her crowning for miss Uganda, Quiin’s next thought was to context for the global beauty contest against the 117 contestants from all over the world. When Abenakyo was asked a unique quality she would bring to her beauty with purpose, the queen assured judges that she has passion for cooking with which she can show love to everyone. In her words, the queen assured judge that “ My beauty with a purpose is fighting teenage pregnancies. We can all come together and help but we can also do this through food because when we all come together, we share ideas, generate ideas as a miss world family”. The Queen is a fun of a of reading and travelling while her favorite film is “Coming to America”.
Who won as miss world 2018/2019
Miss Mexico Vanessa Ponce de Leo won as the first runner-up and she will be miss world 2018/2019. The beauty queen holds a bachelor’s degree in international business, volunteer for “Migrantes en el camino” and is also on the board of directors for a rehab center for girls. Vanessa was crowned as the 68th moss world by Manushi Chhillar the former miss world 2017/2018 from India. There is celebration in Mexico since Ponce is also a first Mexican to win miss world.
Great thanks to all Ugandans who whole-heartedly backed up their queen, giving her more confidence. Abenakyo’s advanced step in beauty with purpose has raised a new bar for the future Uganda beauty queens.
