The 1 day Ngamba chimps tour is a lifetime experience for primates watching enthusiasts. Ngamba Island sanctuary is managed by the Jane Goodall Institute. The island has a geographical size of 100 acres (40 hectares) of rainforest. Ngamba Island is located 17 miles (27 Kilometres) by boat South-East of Entebbe International Airport. It is part of the Koome Islands in Lake Victoria. The Sanctuary is home to orphaned and rescued chimps in Uganda. Africa Adventure Safaris organizes a one day trip to this island on a scheduled basis.
The Ngamba chimps are rescued from poachers by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) from various parts of the country. When the chimpanzee population on the islands grows big, the adult ones are again released to the national parks such as Kibale Forest.

Trip Details
Early morning head to Entebbe followed by a transfer to Ngamba Islands by a speed boat in just 45 minutes. Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary, under management of Jane Goodall Institute is located on Lake Victoria and forms part of the Koome archipelago, a group of 15 islands and islets separated from Lake Victoria by the 10km-wide Ddamba Channel. Ngamba was established in 1998 with an aim of creating a natural environment for the care and rehabilitation of 19 orphaned chimps from UWEC (Uganda Wildlife Education Centre). Arrive on time for feeding the Chimpanzee. The antics these young apes demonstrate leave most guests overwhelmed. Spend about an hour with the chimps and later in the afternoon do sport fishing or take a boat ride. Later transfer back to Entebbe mainland.
