Most travelers planning Uganda safaris ask whether it’s required of them to have the PRC tests even after receiving the covid19 vaccination. NO, travelers who have been vaccinated for corona virus are not asked to test for covid19 upon their arrival at Entebbe International Airport. On 5th May 2021, the ministry of Health in Uganda releases a statement explaining new directives for all arrivals to Uganda. According to Dr Ruth Aceng, the moister of Health in Uganda, Travelers from category 1 and category b countries are subjected to a PCR Covid19 test. All travelers entering Uganda through Entebbe Airport or any other border points are required to have tested negative for covid19.
Category Countries for covid19 as of 11th May 2021
India is the only country in category 1. All travelers from India to Uganda are currently7 prohibited due to the high spread of the deadly virus in India. Whether with or without the vaccine, no travelers from India are allowed into Uganda. Any travelers who have been or transited through India within 14 days preceding their arrival are not allowed in Uganda.
CATEGORY 2 COUNTRIES: These include Ethiopia, United Kingdom, Unites Sates of America, Turkey, Tanzania, South Sudan, Kenya, United Arab Emirates, South Africa. Travelers from these countries and are not vaccinated are asked to take the PCR tests at Entebbe Airport of any border to Uganda. On the other hand, Travelers from these countries and have had a full dose of covid19 vaccination will not be asked to take the tests. NOTE: THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH IN UGANDA DOES NOT REECMMEND NON-VACCINATED TRAVELERS FROM CATEGORY 2 COUNTRIES TO VISIT UGANDA AT THE MOMENT. Only travelers from category 2 countries who have taken a full dose of the covid19 vaccine are allowed to arrive and visit Uganda without any restrictions!
CATEGORY 3 COUNTRIES: These are countries not in category 1 and category 2 for corona virus. Travelers from any category 3 countries will not be subjected to PCR tests upon their arrival at Entebbe International Airport of any border country to the Pearl of Africa.
Postcovid19 Uganda Safaris
Whereas ovid19 is still around, Uganda is now open for all safaris including the famous mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park ad chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park. Interestingly Uganda Wildlife Authority is apparently offering discounted offers for all travelers visiting Uganda. In the same way mountain gorilla permits in Bwindi Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National parks are discounted from $700 to $400 while chimpanzee permits discounted from $200 to $150. 1. Keep a distance of at least 2 meters from each other.
2. Keep a distance of at least 20 meters when trekking mountain gorillas or chimpanzees
3. Mask up your face. Your Nose and mouth MUST be fully covered.
4. Wash hands thoroughly with clean running water for at least 20 seconds
5. Sanitize with alcohol based sanitizer
