TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: QENP Wildlife Tour 
After breakfast, our tour guide will transfer you westwards to Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP).  Undertake a game drive in the park. QENP boasts of a total of 95 mammal species, the highest for any Ugandan national park. 10 primate species resident in this park include chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s monkeys, vervet, blue, red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus and olive baboon. The park also accommodates around 20 predators including side-striped jackal, lions, leopards, and spotted hyena. The most common antelope species include Defassa waterbuck, bushbuck, topi, Uganda kob and the elusive sitatunga. Other common animals in the park include buffaloes, hippos, elephants and warthogs among others.

QENP accommodates more than 610 bird species, possibly the highest total for any national park in the world and a truly remarkable figure for a reserve that is relatively small by continental standards. At least all waterbirds existing in Uganda are part of the checklist, notwithstanding the 54 species of raptors. Forest birds in Maramagambo forest and a variety of woodland birds are present. Mweya stands out for the myriad waterbirds along the Kazinga Channel.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking – Kyambura Gorge
Take breakfast and move to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee trekking. The forested Gorge harbors other primate species including L’Hoest’s, black-and-white, vervet, blue and red-tailed monkeys. There are numerous birds in this gorge.
In the afternoon, after your lunch, undertake a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel as you view the numerous mammals and birds congesting the banks of the Channel.

Day 3     Ishasha – Bwindi Gorilla Tour
After a morning breakfast transfer to Ishasha, the southern sector of QENP for viewing tree-climbing lions. Thence proceed to Bwindi and arrive early enough for your lunch.
A total of 350 bird species have been recorded, which is relatively a high figure since the park lacks waterbirds. Of special interest to birders are 23 species endemic to the Albertine Rift, and at least 14 species found nowhere else in Uganda, including the African Green Broadbill, Brown-necked Parrot, Frazer’s eagle owl, white-tailed blue flycatcher and white-bellied robin chat. There are over 200 butterfly species in Bwindi. Butterfly watchers can be able to identify more than 50 varieties in a day.

Day 4  Gorilla Trekking Tour
   As early as 8.00 am arrive at the park headquarters for a briefing from the park rangers. At 9.00 am commence the gorilla trekking activity following the gorilla trails deep in the thick forest. The time taken to encounter the gorillas ranges between 2 and 8 hours, and at times a full day depending on the movement of these awesome apes on a particular day. In the evening undertake a community walk to the local beer brewers and to the pygmy community for a cultural performance. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas (FB)

Day 5: Lake Mburo National Park Wildlife Tour
Transfer to Lake Mburo national park for an afternoon game drive. The park is an extension of Tanzania Plains with big herds of antelope species, zebras, buffaloes, klipspringers, and other ungulates and a variety of birds. Dinner and overnight at Luxury Mantana Tented camp/Basic Rwonyo Rest Camp (FB)

Day 6   End of a private Gorilla Tour in Uganda
After a guided nature walk in the morning return to Kampala en route stopping-over at the Equator for photography and handicrafts. Arrive in the evening in Kampala for a city tour.
